Executive Summary
Q3 2022
Welcome to the Q3 edition of Jabil’s Global Category Intelligence. In this latest edition, you will find insights and analysis from our subject matter experts covering a wide range of categories across the gamut of Indirect Procurement goods and services. As you will see, the period of tumult and uncertainty we are experiencing is anticipated to continue for the foreseeable future. We would therefore strongly advise that organizations draw on wider external market intelligence and independent opinion to help navigate this continuing turbulence.
There are several macro-economic factors that are having a deep impact on almost every category under examination in which we source, now and going forward. Anyone reading the news will be acutely aware of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, continuing sporadic lockdowns, global trade sanctions and embargoes, energy costs and supply, cost of living increases that prevail in almost every major economy worldwide and government fiscal responses to suppress inflationary pressure, including the recent increases in base interest rates.
This edition offers insights into pricing pressures we have experienced and as importantly how we see this in our main category markets over the next few quarters. Pricing is typically an emotive topic and cost pressures will be especially prevalent for the foreseeable future. This edition will take a deep dive into this as well as offer some recommendations on how to mitigate their impacts. Furthermore, we explore the impact that the pandemic is continuing to have on global supply chains and the mitigation strategies that organizations should adopt to insulate themselves from potential disruptions and consequential overspending.
As I alluded to in earlier editions, Jabil is committed to providing a product considered excellent in the intelligence market. As part of this progression, you will notice the addition of heatmaps as a means of making the content more immediate and easily digestible. As always, I would appreciate your feedback on our intelligence product in our pursuit of continuous improvement.
I hope you enjoy this edition and if you have any questions, please get in touch with me directly.
Yours sincerely,
Tony Lyons
