Executive Summary
Welcome to the inaugural edition of Jabil's Global Mechanicals Report.
Our latest publication covers a range of commodities, from basic raw materials such as metals and resins to midstream commodities like packaging and cables. We also provide our view of the electro-mechanical market, including Power Supplies and Displays.
Over the past four years, the commodities markets have grappled with significant supply challenges during the pandemic and subsequent price fluctuations due to fiscal stimulus and monetary expansion. Together, this caused a major trend towards localizing supply chains to mitigate risk, with many producers with operations in Asia implementing a "China+1" strategy. Additionally, political tensions have continued to affect supply chain cost and risk, with the most significant impact on goods moving through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal.
As of Q2 2024, market dynamics, pricing, and supply have mostly stabilized despite challenges persisting across a broad spectrum of commodities.
The Jabil Commodity Management team continually monitors these markets and, through our Market Intelligence provision, can support our partnership network in ensuring supply continuity whilst reducing cost and complexity.
I hope you enjoy this inaugural publication. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the Jabil Commodity Management team with specific questions or issues for which you may need additional support.
Yours sincerely,
Keith Lapinski
VP, Supply Chain
